State-funded healthcare services in the Republic of Latvia may be received by persons registered in the “Register of Service Recipients” in accordance with the procedure and to the extent determined by the Cabinet of Ministers. Services may be received by contacting a medical institution that has a contractual relationship with the state (this means that the medical institution has concluded a contract with the National Health Service (NHS) for the provision of certain state-funded medical services).
Medical Center "LIEPA" is in contractual relations with the State Health Service for the provision of paid dental services to children under the age of 18. Dental hygiene is also paid for once a year for children - from 2 to 18 years of age. In turn, children can receive dental hygiene services twice a year at the ages of 7, 11 and 12. Please note that the specific period is counted from the child's date of birth.
What are quotas?
At the beginning of the new year, the National Health Service allocates/allocates a certain amount of money to each health care institution that provides dental services to children, which varies between institutions. This allocated amount of money is collectively called a quota. This money is not given out immediately, but is distributed over 12 months and is paid to the institution only after the services have been provided.
Why are quotas ending?
If a healthcare institution has spent the entire amount of money allocated for the year sooner, then this institution can only continue to provide paid services. The NVD does not allocate additional quotas in the middle of the year or upon request when necessary. Also, the pricing section is difficult to predict, because the quota is spent by both dental hygienists and dentists on dental repairs, where the exact amount of work done can only be known after the service is provided. This is precisely the reason why quotas can end relatively quickly or unexpectedly.
Overall, we are happy to be able to provide this service in the region. Working with children in the field of dentistry is always challenging and requires great patience and endurance from specialists.
